Biography

Across every level of music education

Dr. Angelica Brooks serves as Director of Choral Activities at Johnson C. Smith University, where she leads the University Choir, the Golden Voices Gospel Choir and the Smith Singers.

She is a choral conductor, music educator and DEIA specialist whose teaching experience reaches across multiple educational levels and student populations, with a sustained focus on equity and diversity in music education.

Beyond the JCSU podium she works as an honor choir guest conductor, a choral festival adjudicator, a mentor teacher and a curriculum writer.

Every level of music education, and every kind of student. The shape of the work

Dr. Brooks co-chairs the Equity Committee of the National Association for Music Education and serves on its National Executive Board. She sits on the DEI committee of Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity.

She founded The Table Music Education Corporation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and continues to write curriculum and mentor teachers alongside her conducting.
